The Power of Storytelling
Winter 2022
Week Two
HI STORYTELLERS!!

This week, we talk about the MIDDLE of your stories. We also go into clichés, importance of details, and the poetry of your writing.

In advance, you'll want to read two stories from your reading packet: The Flower by Alice Walker; and Baked Alaska by Christopher Solomon. I bring in some of the other stories as examples, but those are the two most important ones.

I've attached here a handout that talks about scenes as building blocks, which might fill in some details on scene creation, for those who need a little more guidance in that realm. And again, scenes are found in books, of course, but also in magazine features, travel stories, personal essays, etc. This could be a class in itself!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Writing!
