When I was little, a National Geographic map hung over my bed -- a children's map, with countries represented by drawings of children in native dress. I would lie there in bed, trying to fathom the thought that halfway around the world, a child wearing clogs and holding a tulip was speaking Dutch; and somewhere else, a child with a sari was riding a camel through the desert.

 

So it's no wonder that I grew up yearning to travel.. I honestly thought that an overdose of travel in my college years would cure my wanderlust. How wrong I was. So it's with much good fortune that eventually, after obtaining a master's degree in Journalism at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, I managed to land a job with National Geographic Travel Books.

While making travel books I also traveled the world when I could. As such, I've had the good luck to snorkel among Roman ruins in Naples; paint with the Aborigines in Uluru, Australia; watch the sacred sunrise at Alishan, Taiwan; and high-altitude wine-taste in Salta, Argentina—and write about all of these experiences and more.

 

 

I've published hundreds of travel stories and blogs, and four books. I've accompanied National Geographic Expedition tours to Italy and France as the NatGeo Expert.

 

I also pride myself on my copy-editing and proofreading skills.
